Amazon Books of the Week 071915

Free Summer Reading - Courtesy of Amazon and Kindle

At first I was quite resistant to the idea of reading on a Kindle, Nook or whatever wasn't a REAL book. As an avid bookworm my entire life, I embrace the look and feel of the cover, the smell of the book and the sense of accomplishment at turning that last page.

Well, now that we're living a more frugal, "streamlined" and less-cluttered lifestyle, my overflowing bookcases are a thing of the past. I have discovered Amazon Prime's FREE Kindle borrowing feature. (Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial)  I am LOVING the idea of having 100s if not 1000s of books at my fingertips - any time day or night! My own limitless library..

The Kindle Voyage is one of my favorite things to curl up with now...sorry Hubby..

And just in case you'd rather use some of the electronics you already own, the FREE Kindle Reading App will allow you to buy books once (or get them for free!!!) and then read these books on ANY or ALL of your devices!

Here are just a few books that are FREE for the downloading right now.

**Keep in mind that these are FREE at the time I am posting this. Prices can change at any time so be sure to verify what you're paying.

Calling All Cat Lovers....

There is a great Purina Pro Plan coupon available right now HERE that you can work into quite a savings deal, if not an actual money maker after a mail-in-rebate!

Our local Petco has this priced at $14.99. I have a free PALS rewards card** so that automatically took $1.50 off of that price.

My printed coupon took another $10.00 off of the total, leaving me with a whopping $4.69 out of pocket after our exorbitant California taxes were added in.

The exciting part of this transaction is that there was a peelie attached to the tub for a Full Rebate Trial Offer! I just have to mail in the receipt with my purchase price circled, a 3x5 card with my pertinent details and the peelie.

If all goes according to plan, in about 6-8 weeks I will receive a check for the full purchase price of $14.99. Since I only spent $4.69 after my coupon and PALS discount, this will mean that my deal was a money maker of $10.39!!!

SCENARIO

Buy 1 15# pail of Purina Pro Plan Perform cat litter at $14.99
Receive PALS rewards discount $1.50
Use $10.00 printable coupon

Pay $4.69 oop

Remit MIR for $14.99

Very cool. This isn't a deal that will last long. The expiration date on my printed coupons is 7/12/15. So it is definitely a short timer.

**(I HIGHLY recommend joining rewards programs at stores you frequently shop. It really pays off with discounts, coupons and special member only deals. In fact, I am going back tomorrow with a $5.00 off any bag of cat or dog food STORE coupon that printed on the bottom of my receipt. I will pair it with the second Pro Plan MANUFACTURER'S coupon that I printed out and get some cat food. By stacking these two coupons - I will be able to get my bag of cat food for FREE!)
A little background on me...

My name is Julie aka Jules.  I've been an avid couponer most of my life -  long before (as in decades) it became the popular thing to do - or even had a title. My mom started us as kids clipping and collecting coupons and S&H green stamps and working on mail-in rebates. She made it fun and it became a challenge to see what kind of deals we could stir up, even 30+ years ago. We've come a long way since then. With the internet and smartphone apps, the world of couponing has exploded. You don't even have to ever wield a pair of scissors to save a bunch of money.

For me personally, couponing is a something I enjoy and have a lot of fun with. It is a challenge to match coupons to sales and promotions to fully maximize our savings. It is sort of a game for me to see if I can better my deals each time, with the ultimate goal of creating a money-maker or at least a FREE item. The thing I DON'T do is stress over it or let it take over my life. Couponing is a tool to save our families money and give us the ability to create a small stockpile of items we need and use. It shouldn't be something that takes away from our quality of life, but enhances it. If you make it fun, all the better.

As we go along, I'd really like feedback from readers as to what they'd like to see on Centsable Couponing. I plan on showing various deals that are available as well as providing some tips and tricks to make it easier for new and experienced couponers alike. I will also add resources and other helpful items as they come up. Let me know what you think. We are still building the site so any comments are welcome.

If you happen to be in the Central San Joaquin Valley in California (think Fresno/Madera/Merced), we put on regular couponing classes and would love to meet you. (The schedules will be posted under the Classes tab above or you can always contact me via the email link to the right)

Until next time, Happy Savings!

Great Drink Deal at CVS...

Glaceau vitaminwaters are on special 4/$5.00 with a $2.00 ECB this week. If you're lucky and still have some of the peelie coupons you can save a bit more, but mine were gone long ago. We drink a lot of vitaminwater, my favorite is the Revive fruit punch flavor. What can make this an exceptional deal is what you can get after the purchase.

Glaceau is running a promotion this summer called Project Hustle. It is a program to fund young entrepreneurs. Where you come in is that there are entry codes under the bottle caps. Each time you enter a code to vote for one of the projects, YOU get a prize. You are guaranteed to at least get a coupon for $1.99 off of one Vitamin water. There are a ton of other interesting prizes too including cash and trips.

Scenario:

Buy 4 Vitaminwaters, pay $5.00 oop

Receive $2.00 ECB

Enter codes from 4 bottles on website and get $1.99/1 printable coupons sent to you via email.

**So far I've received 3 coupons and 1 leather notebook as my prizes.

Keep in mind these are Bricks coupons, you can't print them more than 2 times.

Welcome to our new site

Centsable Couponing!

We hope you'll enjoy your visit and come back often.

Centsable Couponing was created as a way to share with and show others that you really don't have to go to EXTREMES to save money and find great deals. Using coupons doesn't have to be stressful and chaotic as shown on TV. It can be a whole lot of fun and very rewarding without your whole life revolving around the next big shopping trip. All it really takes is a little know-how, some common sense and a few coupons!

(and seriously, who needs 87 bottles of ketchup and 300 boxes of crackers....)

Please bear with us as we build the site. It is truly a work in progress..
